Fitastic!

The Fitastic team would like to congratulate New Manchester Elementary School of Douglas County for winning the 2010 Fitastic Elementary School Challenge!!!! During the Challenge students from New Manchester Elementary, and 45 other private and public schools from Clayton, Douglas, Fayette, and Gwinnett Counties learned to become physically and mentally fit by eating right, exercising and embracing social and economic accountability. New Manchester Elementary School of Douglas County won the Challenge with a total of 731 out of 810 students participating (90%). Morrow Elementary School of Clayton County was the runner up with 400 out of 480 students participating (80%)!!

On receiving the Fitastic honor, Dr. Sandra Shuler, principal of New Manchester Elementary, stated that “New Manchester is honored to receive the award for participating in the Fitastic Elementary School Challenge. The Douglas County School System encourages good health by offering foods packaged and prepared in healthy wyas.” New Manchester Elementary School was presented their $1,000 cash award this spring.

P.E.A.C.H Communications and the Greater Atlanta McDonald’s Operators Association thanks all of the schools that participated and congratulates all of the students who completed the First Annual Fitastic Elementary School Challenge. During its first year, P.E.A.C.H Communications is proud to have had 28,000 students from 45 schools in four counties accept the Challenge to develop better eating and exercise habits, and embrace social and economic accountability.
